Southwick Zoo

Weekends have been beautiful around here. Looking for something fun to do we let Nicholas choose an outing for the family. He choose the zoo. Nicholas and I loved our first visit to Southwick Zoo last June, so this was the perfect opportunity to head back.

Toddlers loathe to walk. They much prefer to run... and run everywhere. This was Nicholas. And, of course, whatever Nicholas did, Alexa followed suit. This was a rare glimpse of Nicholas standing still.
After a short stint running from animal exhibit to animal exhibit and briefly watching the elephant show, they found the swings. I wonder if all kids love swings or if mine are just obsessed. As an example of their obsession, Nicholas provides his input on whether or not he likes the homes we see based on if they have a swingset. It is a must.

Definitely a fun outing.

Moo, Baa, La la la Part II

Here we are. Back in action.

After the petting zoo, Nicholas and Alexa took great pleasure in the a little pond/waterfall area which had fishing poles and fish made out of lures for the kids to play with and plenty of chairs for the parents to enjoy. I think we all would have been happy to stay here the entire day.
Alas, no day is complete without a stint on the swings,

or riding in a "yucky" car (Don't tell Nicholas but I think he might be getting too big for these things.),

or playing hide-n-seek.

We finished up our day with some of their "homemade" ice cream. Yum!

We'll definitely be back again. Looks like we may even have Nicholas's birthday party here as well.

Moo, Baa, La La La

Some kids rely on Sandra Boynton's Moo, Baa, La La La to learn their animal noises. While Jim was off galivanting in Las Vegas and literally jumping off the Stratosphere, the kids and I met up with Eve and Enzo for a little hands on pop quiz at Davis' Farmland. Oh wow, we have been missing out.

I had heard of Davis', seen the blue attraction sign driving down I495, yet somehow never got wind of what a toddler haven it is. We arrived and immediately hit the petting zoo. The kids really enjoyed getting up close and personal with the animals.

The baby goats were super cute.

The sheep were a bit pushy. They will eat anything.

Why is it that kids always get hungry right after feeding livestock and running their hands through fecal tainted sand?

After a snack, it was on to the reptiles.

And nce again, past some pushy goats.

Now I know I took more photos of the day. Where they are, I do not know. Jim 'said' he downloaded them all. Humph. I think I might have to do this review in a two part series. Stay tuned for more. Just know that we all had a blast!

Playdate

Nicholas had his first playdate. We finally got Nicholas's BFF, Natalie, to come over. The kids rode tricycles, had fun with bubbles, ate pizza, and played a game of candyland. Nicholas needs a few lessons on how to be a gracious loser but otherwise I would call the playdate a success. Maybe he needs a few more playdates.
