Just Keep Swimming...

Despite multiple attempts, Nicholas and Alexa just started swim lessons this year, Nicholas in a beginner class for 4yo's and Alexa in a parent and tots class. Both are loving it, although today.. not so much by Nicholas. He was sick this week and developed an awful canker sore so he was afraid to get water anywhere near his face.

Alexa, on the other hand, is fearless. She'll jump in with no hesitation and keeps on swimming like Dori or the Energizer Bunny.

OK, I might have let her dunk on purpose.

Can't wait for the next class.

The End of an Era

In the blink of an eye Alexa became a big girl this week. Over the last week, Alexa decided she no longer wanted to wear diapers so it was time to start potty bootcamp. Thing is, there wasn't much training involved, she knew how to do it. She just decided it was time.

The fact that Alexa wouldn't wear diapers meant away with the crib as well. Last night was the first crib-less and diaper free night in our home in 1635 days. It is truly the end of an era.

The only negative about this whole thing... I still have a ton of diapers and wipes.

Here's Alexa's new room. I cannot wait to get our new place and decorate with big girl furniture!

Young Learner

Over the summer, Nicholas commented repeatedly how he could not wait for the snow because he wanted to go skiing. Well, the snow is here. About 3 feet of it in the last week and the ski lessons are on. Nicholas is in the 4yo Young Learner program

I will say I was incredibly disappointed with the first "lesson" as it was more a chaotic mess trying to sort the hundred plus munchkins into classes rather than containing any type of instruction. The second class was slightly better but I will not be signing him up for the second session. He'll just have to learn from his mom.

Despite my frustrations, he is enjoying himself and has continued to ski for hours past his lesson finishing. This past weekend he skied for 4 hours and relented to going home only once the sun had set and me having to tell him we'd miss dinner if we didn't leave.

ATR is back!

With the new year, Adult Team Racing is back. For our inagural night, Jim and the kids came up for some burgers and to cheer me on.

Nicholas brought his favorite gift from Santa, a camera, and took many photos to document the evening. Unfortuanately, most did not come out but here are the ones that were not a blurry mess. Dana and me post first run.

Project 182.5?

There are some who embark on this thing called 'Project 365' which is to try a take a picture a day for an entire year. I will not be so bold as to believe that I can follow through on that but maybe I could do a Project 182.5 and post a picture every other day. We'll see how it goes.

Here is Alexa enjoying her new boots on a wet afternoon getting in her "exercise" which consisted of chasing after me and splashing in puddles.

Yes, I've been bad about keeping up. Got a fancy new camera and no computer to download the necessary software onto. I'll fill everyone in on the goings on of the PligPen as flashbacks. But I promise to be better this year.

Today marks the one year anniversary of my training. While I call it that because I know myself well enough to realize I need a carrot, my ultimate goal is to be fit. Fit as I used to be, if not better.

As the first day of the new year I found myself a training partner... Nicholas. He joined me on his bike while I went for a run. It was only 3 miles but you gotta start somewhere. I am a proud mom.
