Flashback: Mother's Day 2010

Things have been uneventful around here. Just lots of sick days, snow days, and just too cold days. I think now is a great time to cover something missed during my blogging hiatus.

We celebrated Mother's Day one week late in our house last year due to being at the Cape. I might have laid into Jim for not at least making me breakfast after my long run. Luckily he recovered nicely by letting me sleep in and producing this beautiful breakfast in bed when I woke up. Cuppacino, mimosa, almond croissant, strawberries, scrambled eggs, bacon and blueberry pancakes. Can you say heaven?!

Way to go, Little Dude!

Nicholas loves to ski. All summer long he would say he couldn't wait for snow because he wanted to go skiing. I've been taking him as much as possible and he is loving it.

This weekend we headed to Wachusett to enjoy the snow bounty we've been enjoying(?) here. Four hours into our day, which included runs avoiding anything bump-like, Nicholas decided he wanted to try to ski the jumps. This consisted of an approximately 200 yard off-the-side-of-the-trail "course" with bumps of varying size. His attempts remind me of the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears; his first attempt was too fast and he fell...lots, his second attempt was too slow and he didn't make it over the jump, and from then on he did pretty good.

Nicholas' runs did gather attention. With every run he would get a "way to go, little dude", "keep it up, little man", or some other random encouraging cheer from older boys watching from the chairlift. I also got a couple "how old is he?"s.

These comments were not just from his attempts at the jumps but also from his skiing. This little dude was showing some fantastic edging (really getting his knee into the slope) and was barely skiing in a wedge. Way to go, Little Dude!

Sleeping Beauty

This is how I found Alexa when I went to bed last night.

I wonder if she's just not yet used to her new bed or if she's just adept at sleeping in various odd contortions as seen previously here.
