Free Cone Day

Who doesn't love free? And it doesn't get any better than free ice cream, especially when you're talking the yummy goodness of Ben and Jerry's.

Since I'd been away all weekend I decided to ignore the fact that the gas in getting to and fro to the store was more than the cost of the ice cream we'd receive, dismiss the knowledge that the cones would ruin the kids appetites, and become blind to the mess destined to ensue, and do something fun and out of the ordinary. Even the rain and the crowds didn't deter.

Me thinks the kids were pleased.
Nicholas enjoyed some Chocolate Therapy.

Alexa defended her cone of Cake Batter better than I would have liked.
And mommy got some Coconut Seven Layer Bar.

And for a final touch, scorpion tattoos.
It was difficult to resist the temptation to follow the hordes of teens around for a 2nd (or 5th, as some were bragging) cone. We'll just have to wait until next year.

Someone liked her gifts

Think someone liked the gifts mommy brought her from Aruba?

10 because...

I've been busy and forgetful, and overall uninspired.

1. Nicholas threw us for a loop a couple weeks ago. He woke up one Friday morning and collapsed to the floor saying he couldn't walk. After x-rays and many blood tests we had no diagnosis other than "soft tissue injury". Not sure how much soft tissue injury is locate in your knee joint but since he improved, albeit slowley, and is now back to normal I'll let it slide. This time.

2. Because of Nicholas' knee injury he didn't get to complete his last two ski lessons. He was very disappointed and even said yesterday that he misses skiing. Nice that he/we has something to look forward to when the snow starts to fall again.

3. Despite missing his ski lessons we've introduced Nicholas to a new sport. Last weekend Nicholas participated in a "Kidkwondo" program at a local place called Giorgio Fit. He loved it and was really brave. Even the instructor was very impressed with him.

4. Alexa has become a little chatter box.
5. Eve and I have talked a lot about a moms getaway and after a long time coming, we're finally getting away. We're heading to Aruba tomorrow for 4 days. I cannot wait!
6. I've got a lot of vacation time saved up. I just got approval from my manager to take 8 consectuive Friday's off this July and August. The kids and I are going to have so much fun! I hope Granma and Grandpa don't get sick of us.
7. Did I mention I've signed up to run a half marathon? Actually Jim and I both signed up to run a half marathon on May 30th. Guess who has been really good about training? And guess who hasn't?
8. I am worried I'm not going to be good about following my training program while I'm away this weekend. No excuses!
9. Rain. Rain. Rain. This past weekend was miserable with the amount of rain we got. It's flooded the Sudbury River and has practically barred almost every route to Boston. Here is probably the one instance that could have happened to make me thankful for the ugly drain shaft in our current backyard. I should have taken a picture. It lokoed like a swimming pool this week.
10. I'm loving my new camera but hate that I can't use it with my computer. Makes sharing pictures awfully difficult. I think I'm going to be in the market for a personal computer very soon.
